Turning unused land into garden where families can strengthen their community.
Urban farming brings food production closer to home. Through Urban Farms, Brownsville Wellness Coalition helps residents turn underused land into productive spaces where people can learn, grow, and build greater food independence.
Farming Done in Your City
In 2015, BWC established Urban Farms to protect and restore vulnerable land while increasing food sovereignty in Brownsville.
Families spend approximately one year learning to farm through hands-on training. Participants gain experience while learning how to grow food and strengthen their connection to local agriculture.

Growing More Than Food
The impact of an urban farm extends far beyond the harvest. Growing food creates opportunities for people to share knowledge, work together, and develop a deeper connection with where their food comes from.
By supporting local growing, we're helping create a food system where healthy, locally produced food is more accessible—and where Brownsville residents have the knowledge and resources to take part in growing it.
Growing food for our community.
Our urban farms produce organically grown fruits and vegetables that make their way throughout Brownsville.
Growing healthier students & communities.
Through garden-based learning, we aim to create healthier students and communities through the power of growing food.
